Know your rights: What to do if you are stopped by the police
Recent police interactions with civilians have been under the watchful eye of community members and the media. To remain safe in all circumstances, we must equip ourselves with the knowledge of what our rights are and how to properly exercise them. You will take part in a training that covers civilian-police interactions on the street, in your car and in your home. The training focuses on Fourth Amendment rights in relation to searches and seizures, and provided practical advice for getting through a police encounter safely and calmly, with your rights fully intact. Collectively we will discuss ways in which we can engage law enforcement in protecting our rights and developing mechanisms of transparency and accountability.
