Since 1970, the Institute of Reading Development has taught more than three million students and trained more than ten thousand teachers. Fordham Westchester’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies has contracted with the Institute to provide reading programs in the community. The curriculum and teacher training programs have been developed by the Institute’s founder, Paul Copperman. Mr. Copperman is the author of two influential books on education. In 1982, the United States Senate confirmed Mr. Copperman’s Presidential appointment to the National Council on Educational Research.
Beginning June 26 through July 31; the Institute of Reading Development will offer reading programs on the Fordham Westchester campus for the following groups:
- 4-Year-Olds and Entering Kindergartners
- Entering 1st Graders
- Entering 2nd Graders
- Entering 3rd Graders
- Entering 4th and 5th Graders
- Entering 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders
- Entering 9th, 10th, and 11th Graders
- Entering 12th Graders, College Students, or Adults
